In the digital age, art consumed by the average person is done online. Average people who want to engage with and discover art are no longer doing so in real life, but rather on online platforms such as Tumblr or Pinterest. People enjoy art but are not interacting with local art. Local art communities exist, but not many people are aware of them. We define local art communities to be everyone who is involved in the production and consumption of art, and who are commonly linked geographically. Our goal is to leverage technology to make it easier for specifically the consumer, or those who appreciate art, to find and discover art that is physically around them. This would allow people engaging with local art to become familiar with the works of artists in their local communities and foster deeper relationships with individuals and the art world around them. Our goals are to:

  1. use geocaching to aide the discovery of real world art
  2. help store and create collections of users’ favorite local art pieces so they can come back to the things that inspire them.
